Product Review: Alanna Age No Bar – Deep Oil Cleansing Scrub & Rose & Grape Seed Face Mist

Don’t you just love brands that believe in staying natural. I do! Alanna is one such brand.

Something about the brand

Alanna’s tagline says it all… Naturally beautiful

A brand that believes in using natural ingredients to create beautiful skin solutions that give your skin the love and nourishment it deserves. Started up in 2015, they have come a long way, with constant R&D to develop the best quality products possible which deliver desired results. They create their formulations keeping in mind the benefits of each and every natural ingredient and how they work together to provide a solution to every possible skin problem.

While they are very particular in their formulations, each individual’s skin differs and I would personally recommend doing a patch test for every product you try.

The Product and My Experience

I was sent two products from Alanna to try and below is my take on them both.

Age No Bar – Deep Oil Cleansing Scrub

Firstly, I love the outer packaging. White with the product details mentioned, it is quite neat and classy. It is well insulated to protect the jar from sliding about and causing any damage.

The jar is transparent with a gold screw top and an extra seal inside to avoid any leakage. I must say the packaging is quite thoughtful and goes well with the brand logo.

My take on the product:

As you open the jar, you are surrounded with this amazing fragrance of sweet almond oil. Absolutely love the scent. Though the scrub contained ingredients with high oil content, the scrub itself is extremely dense. It was almost dried out and set in the jar. I had to use a spatula to remove the product. One would have to use this on wet skin, as it is otherwise too dry to spread. It is quite gentle on the skin, as a scrub, but I have to admit it is quite oily, and that may not be appreciated by too many. The plus side to that is that it would definitely help break down any makeup residue on the skin. Scrubbed for a bit, and as per instructions added some more water till it creates a cream like consistency.

Being such an oily consistency, it was quite difficult to wash off. Needed to use luke-warm water, and multiple washes. In fact, I once even felt the requirement to use a cleanser to thoroughly get rid of the oily residue.

With ingredients like Almonds, olive oil and cocoa butter, this scrub is said to provide anti-aging properties to the skin, unfortunately with this limited usage I really can’t comment on that but it definitely left the skin quite smooth and supple.

  • All natural
  • No parabens, sulphates
  • Handmade & Cruelty free
  • Doesn’t dry out the skin
  • All ingredients have anti-aging properties that definitely will show results in the long run.

  • Wouldn’t recommend someone with oily skin to use this product as it really is extremely oily
  • Being in a jar, it is difficult to use the product without contaminating it.
  • Felt the consistency to be a little too dense, almost dried up.

I do like the product, and think it would be great way to end a long day with makeup on. You need to use a very tiny amount so the jar of 50gms would last a long time and is currently available at a discounted price of ₹400 (original price ₹450).

My Rating: 7.5 / 10

You can buy it using the below link:

Rose & Grape Seed Face Mist

With a similar classy outer packaging, this comes in a spray bottle, perfect for a face mist. It is a nice travel size packaging of 50ml, perfect to pop in your bag for that occasional freshening spritz anytime during the day.

My take on the product:

Again, I absolutely love the fragrance of this mist, the beautiful refreshing scent of roses! Rose water being the prime ingredient, it has added benefits of grape-seed oil and rose essential oil. It is quickly absorbed by the skin and proves to be an excellent toner.

  • All natural
  • No parabens, sulphates
  • Handmade & Cruelty free
  • Great way to refresh the skin on the go

  • A little pricey for such a small bottle.
  • Sold in a spray bottle and not a misting spray

At ₹250 for 50ml it is a bit pricey, but is also available at a discount on their site currently, available on the below link.

This product too is quite good and would recommend it.

My Rating: 8 / 10

So, this was my take on the two Alanna products I received, but they do have a wide range of products and they are definitely a natural brand I highly recommend. Check out their website for their other products too.
